It's no secret that around here we love summer. The carefree, school-less days with ice cream, splashes in the pool, and endless outdoor activities. Just the thought of it brings a smile to my face.
But, I must admit, as I've grown older I've began to welcome a new season with open arms. I've grown to love the beauty, wonders, and everything else, fall.
A season I used to dread, because when fall arrives winter isn't far behind and I couldn't fathom the negative temperatures.
Here's my list of 10 reasons I'm excited for fall:
Life slows down
Summer is an exciting, busy time of year. It seems like we're always rushing from one event to the next - BBQ's, weekend getaways. But we have to admit, by the end of the summer - we're tired. When fall arrives, the air cools and daylight fades, we naturally settle back into our usual routines.

Who doesn't love cuddling up to a warm fire with a bowl of popcorn and maybe a movie. Sounds like a perfect fall evening to me!
There are so many reasons to love Halloween. Obviously there is the candy, but the parties! Dressing up in a costume you've put a lot of thought into and enjoying the night with your friends. But my favorite part is seeing what kind of costume my daughter comes up with. Whether it's funny, scary, or cute it's always so fun to watch them trick-or-treat.
It's been a great summer full of shorts and swimsuits, but by August, I'm ready for jeans and long sleeve shirts. Sweaters! Warm, cozy sweaters!
The fall foliage colors are unbeatable! Kids love collecting and identifying the different types of leaves, jumping in them, and even preserving them between wax paper. For us, it's time to rake!
Whether you're inside on the couch with a bowl of popcorn or outside with at a neighbors bonfire with s'mores, fall is a great time to enjoy a warm fire.
Before it gets too chilly for outdoor events, fall welcomes festivals, street fairs, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches. It's where you can enjoy apple cider donuts, apple cider, scarecrows, and pumpkin everything.
A favorite part of the year is when apples are in season! The difference between a store bought apple and a fresh apple you've picked - unbeatable. A quick google search will show you nearby areas that offer pick-your-own apples. If you're lucky, they'll host a fall festival and you'll knock them both out in one day!
Undoubtedly, gathering with friends in family and enjoying the flavors of fall is my favorite part. We look forward to dinners with friends. Thanksgiving plans with family. Planning for the holidays. It's what the colder months offer and I'm here for it.
